living a"bored" - not

So, after I extinguished the boat fire, we set sail for Oxford, Maryland (or Merry Land, according to Elias). Oh that? Well, I put the kettle on the stove, making coffee in preparation for our sunrise venture - what is that burning I smell?... what's that smoke?... I better remove the kettle - hey, why is that cardboard coaster on the burner? oh, it must have been stuck to the bottom of the kettle - and so we begin another day aboard - speaking of which, did you ever hear about that human boiling point experiment by Skinner where 4 people (2 being young children) sailed together for 7 hours in a 45 foot square cockpit? just wondering...anyway, we enjoyed many a game of Madlibs - where verbs like fart, burp, and spit were among the favorite selections - along this genre: knock knock, who's there?, Ivan, Ivan who?, Ivan sailing too long (the book of knock knock jokes was another popular activity) - so, I hope you enjoy the above photo depicting St. Michaels to Oxford - there was a perfect Oxford photo opportunity, which I missed, during which Jonas and Elias were very actively swinging on their stomachs, on a park swing set, directly overlooking the harbor - there's always that dichotomy of living the moment and recording it (since I don't always trust my memory)

Solomon's Island was nothing to write home about, so I figured I'd e-mail it instead. Since we were too late for the Solomon's Island biology lab's petri dish tour, and too early for the Tiki Bar happy hour, we decided to move on. Remember how I predicted that at this rate, the next stop would be a field? - well, I wasn't too far off - it was a state park (Point Lookout) - sure, it was pretty, but no milk - although it did have a Civil War Museum and nature center (something for everyone), which were both too far away for us weary travelers - we were anchored right off the Potomoc River, it was supposed to be a calm 5 knot breeze - although those meteorologists didn't lose sleep over their mistake, we did - does the Dragon Coaster at Rye Playland stir up any images? - the GPS anchor dragging alarm was set, and we moved to the central boat quarters, for a vertically challenged sleep. Today we made it to a sort of unplanned Deltaville, which appeared (from the guides) to be the big stopping place for boaters - oops again...Luckily, a fellow boater offered to drive us to town (which was supposed to be walkable and devoid of taxis), even after she heard we were from New London - so we stocked up. Not forgetting the e-mail subject, dolphins welcomed us to Deltaville - about a dozen of them swam around the boat - I woke Elias for the occasion - he was mezmerized. 091304 crossing state lines - state of confusion to state of insanity (MD to VA)
