Scenic Charleston

<-- Georgetown to Charleston Beaufort & Savannah, Georgia -->
courtyards and cobblestones
even before we pulled up the anchor, there were dolphins diving around the boat (oh that again...) - just like the title of Jonas' book: Dolphins at Daybreak - we continued our trip through the designated no wake zone (which pretty well described us at 6:45 am), past the Palmetto Island (which had significantly less palms than the opposite shore) - through what is referred to as the South Carolina low country - the flatland grasses make nearby ships appear to be traveling on the grasses (which is not so far fetched, considering our prior grounding history) - arriving in Charleston's harbor, not unlike Norfolk's harbor, bustling with huge container ships, cranes on barges, etc. However, Charleston is so much more scenic - its streets are lined with courtyards, cobblestones (alas, the aforementioned subject title), pastel historic buildings with decorative wrought iron balconies, and palm trees, not to mention some beckoning bakeries.
